I remember watching Sesame Street as a kid in suburban Atlanta, and I wondered why something was wrong with my neighborhood because there was no train anywhere. I think this contributed to my desire to live in the city.

Here in Providence, RI it's just buses but we do have commuter rail to Boston.
That said, Providence and the metro area around it are less than 50 square miles. It's a place that would be ideal to put in a mass transit system that isn't dependent upon car clogged roads. But our politicians lack vision.
